The career crossroads Nathaniel Clyne stands at as Liverpool defender gets set for Reds return

Those prone to cliches might describe it as a career of two halves for Nathaniel Clyne at Liverpool.

For four seasons, the defender has been a contracted Reds player, spending two of those turning in a string of dependable and consistent displays down the right-hand side at Anfield.
The other couple have been spent desperately trying to shake off injury and kicking his heels on the sidelines, with a loan spell away thrown in for good measure.
Signed in the summer of 2015 from Southampton, Clyne was a virtual ever-present for the first couple of years on Merseyside, racking up 93 appearances in the process.
In his first campaign with the Reds, he notched an impressive 52 across all competitions, ensuring he was very much first choice under Brendan Rodgers and Jurgen Klopp.
